@Matthijs Oh, thanks a lot. I didn't get any notification about your answer.
But it really shades the light on what's going on inside the Piano Magic.

@Dmitry: Piano Magic doesn't really teach any single style, but as most students are beginners it is only natural that they copy the teacher's style. It is definitely not classical music, but more cocktail piano style.

It is certainly possible to learn to play blues and country from Piano Magic, but if you're mostly interested in learning licks then Piano Magic isn't for you. Instead, it teaches you to understand how music works and then you can apply that to any style. But there aren't a lot of dedicated blues/jazz/country lessons in the course.

Hi,

Not sure if my comment/question got lost somehow.
Again, my question was about some kind of showcase where students of Piano Magic would demonstrate their achievements.

I'm interested in playing such stiles as blues/country but what I've seen so far was kind of 'classical' style playing.

And I don't really want to join what seems to be a closed society before I get confident I can really benefit from it.

So, as a Piano Magic student do you think it's really possible to learn to play those blues/jazz/country styles from ground up?

Regards,
Dmitry

Hi,

I'm curios about the Piano Magic course.
But I didn't really see any demo / showcase of a Piano Magic course student where different (like country, jazz, blues) styles of playing would be presented.

What I've seen so far were only demos where students played the same style (which got a bit boring, because different melodies and even different improvisations sounded very close - if not the same - in style)

Do you think it's really possible to learn to play those - different from classic - styles using the Piano Magic course?

I would really appreciate if you could point me to some demo videos by the course's students.
Because right now it looks like some kind of closed society (if not a sect).

Thanks,
Dmitry

Thank you for your reviews. This is exactly what i'm looking for. I am completely new to piano and am currently looking at starting PianoMagic, but am not thrilled about the costs. I was also looking into another course called Learn and Master Piano (http://www.learnandmaster.com/piano/) and would greatly appreciate your opinion between them. I am not really interested (nor have the time) to learn to read music, but am wanting to play my children's favorite pop music so that i may teach them as well. (Basically looking to play by ear.)

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Nic,

I did not learn much from the ear training of playpianotoday.

I did learn how to play by ear from Piano Magic, but it does require a time investment. I've been with Piano Magic for about 3 years now and I still haven't learned half of what it has to offer. But I did learn the basics of playing by ear after a few months.

Quiescence is good to learn how to improvise, but I would use it as an addition to Piano Magic, not as a replacement.

Hope it helps!

There are various methods from which we could learn music. By playing free music games you can improve your hearing (name tones and chords by ear).
